UNIT 8 Final major project. 1. IDEAS – Initial outline

Rationale.

Over the past 7 units I have acquired many new and useful skills for example at the start of the cours I was completely lost when it came to Photoshop, but over the past 7 units I have gained useful measurable and skills with Photoshop as a hole. To be specific there are three tolls in Photoshop that at I have exceled at using. The first is the quick selection tool the second is the brush tool and the third is the pen tool. All of the tools I listed above have allowed me to get a clear understanding of the way I want my Final Major Project to go.

Project concept

For my project I aim to make a 7-minute short film and a poster to market my short film for an audience. I will conduct primary research to find quantitative and qualitative results in the form of a survey and focus group, this will allow me to find out what direction I should take my film/poster in. I will complete secondary research and look at similar genres to find out about character and location development. Research will need to be completed into potential sounds and music heard in the film, as this is something I need to have a clear understanding of. I will also look at real life examples, such as Google’s self driven car and other similar stories. From all of my research I hope to produce and entertaining short film that will engage my target audience. I intend to film my project using a DSLR camera, tripod and audio equipment to film with. I have considered potential locations, such as a classroom for the computer scene, a train for the conflict scene and I will film the computer screen (I will need to consider how to do this without it having a glare). My poster will be set in a city scene for the main image with the name of the film, ‘City of Games’.

Evaluation

I will evaluate and reflect on each day, using audio and written recordings. I will comment on my progress using an audio recorder and go into more detail with written and images to show what I have done that day. I will upload my audio via sound cloud or YouTube and make sure that I adjust my project to my reflective practice.

Project action plan and timetable

I intend to complete all of my initial planning and research by the 3rd May, and I will make sure that it is at a stage where I am able to move forward with my project and take the next step into production. I will continue to develop my research through May, if things come up. This will allow me to factor in cinema and location visits. I will complete my filmed production by the 5th June and the whole project will be submitted by the 12th June. This will allow me to gain feedback from my audience.

Proposed Research sources and Bibliography (Harvard Format)

For the initial research sources I will use are one of the latest advancement in A.I. known as swam robotics. Now this may be A.I. but the thought of A.I. could be linked to the cars going against there core programing. Then there is also the Google home AI that cane control things in your home just from you telling it to. Just like the swam robotics it has to be connected to your home to have control of your home appliances. Another thing that is a lot closer to the concept of the FMP is the self-driving car by Google. This is now known as the Waymo project, ("Waymo". Waymo. N.p., 2017. Web. 28 Mar. 2017.) Tesla are also working on their own self-driving car that is similar to Google’s. I will conduct my primary research in the form of a survey and focus group.
